Q: Why should I have a sewing portfolio?
Creating and building your sewing portfolio allows you to identify, highlight and showcase the skills you have learned and mastered through your sewing journey.
1. You can create your portfolio to keep as your own personal record (by keeping everything private).
2. If you are an aspiring or seasoned Pattern Tester you can now provide the Designer whose call you are answering with one link that has ALL the information they are asking for.
3. You have the opportunity to collaborate with other sewing businesses who take an interest in your portfolio.
Q: Who can sign up to become an Individual Member of SewingPortfolios.com?
ANYONE interested in creating a free online sewing portfolio of his/her sewing projects.
Q: Am I guaranteed a collaboration if I become a member?
NO. The Business Member who discovers you initiates collaboration.
Q: What if I want to keep my information private?
Your Public Name, First and Last Name will always be Public, BUT you can choose to keep all other information and project albums Private. If you change your mind, you can always switch them over to Public from your profile page.
Q: I created my profile, now what??
As an Individual User, all you are capable of doing is creating and updating your portfolio as you create your projects. Remember, only the Business Members can initiate a connection and collaboration. Your SewingPortfolios is meant to be a handy reference (especially helpful if you're a pattern tester answering a tester call, as all your information is already catalogued for you and you can simply share your handy link). You can best maximize your exposure by sharing the fact that you are a member of Sewing Portfolios whenever, and wherever you can. If you are inclined to initiate contact first, you can always contact Business Members from their website contact form, and encourage them to check out your profile on SewingPortfolios.com by providing them with your unique link. Q: How do I select the best project album pictures?
Here are some helpful questions to ask yourself about each possible project album picture:
1. What will this picture demonstrate?
2. Is this my best work?
3. Does it show mastery?
4. Am I proud of this picture…all or part of it?
5. Will this picture highlight my strong skills?
Q: Ok, I’ve decided what pictures to use, but I’m trying to upload them and it’s not working.
Although we allow image uploads to be 20mb each in size, all images uploaded will be resized on the server to be no greater than 1400px x 1400px. You can greatly speed up your uploads by using a tool such as Adobe Photoshop or

YES. Your Public Name populates to your unique user ID link called “My Portfolio Link” located right below your Bio Bubble. Simply copy and paste this link wherever you'd like to share it. Please note, your profile can only be accessed and seen if the viewer is a Business Member of SewingPortfolios.com.
Q: I see there is a possibility to be featured on the site blog, how does that happen?
Blog features are considered by the site administrators. Calls for consideration will be made in the sites exclusive member only Facebook Group. Link will be provided to you via email upon sign up.
Q: I want to deactivate my account, how do I do that?
Only a site administrator can deactivate your account. Once an account is deactivated please know that ALL your uploaded content and information will be permanently deleted from our system. If you would like to deactivate your account please contact us
FOR BUSINESS MEMBERS:
Q: Who can sign up as a Business Member of Sewing Portfolios.com?
The Business Member portal is for Businesses that would be able to provide opportunities for collaborations with other Businesses and the Individual user within the database. For example: PDF Pattern Designers, Fabric Shops, Fabric Manufacturers, Commercial Pattern Companies, Sewing Magazines and other related Sewing Businesses.
Q: Am I required to use the name of my Business to sign up as a Business Member?
Yes. The Business name is required to verify authenticity of your business account.
Q: Do you have to be approved to become a Business Member?
Yes. Once you register as a Business Member, you are considered a “Provisional Business Member”. You must sign in and fill in the appropriate information in your profile for a site administrator to review and verify authenticity, BEFORE you can gain access to the Business Member Features. Once approved you will receive a confirmation email. This process usually takes about 48 hours from the time of your profile completion.
Q: If I choose to leave a Rate & Review for an Individual User, who can see it?
Rate and Reviews are ONLY accessible and viewable by Business Members. SewingPortfolios.com uses a multi-tenant database to store user information. Information is role based to ensure Individual Members and Business Members only see what the site administrators intend them to see based on their role.
Q: How can I contact an Individual User if I want to discuss collaboration?
You can contact an Individual Member using the blue “Contact Me” button located under the users profile image. If they have selected to share their social media information you can also use those options to communicate with them.
Q: Nothing happens when I try to contact an Individual via the Contact Button. Why is that?
This features requires a default mail application to be installed on your device. (for eg. Outlook or Apple mail).
If you do not have a default mail application installed, you can also click the Individual Member’s Social links and contact them via those channels.
Q: What if I don’t have the time to do a detailed search?
Not a problem! Contact us HERE with your needs, and for a small fee we can do it for you!
Q: What if I am a Business Member, but would also like to be discovered by other Sewing-Related Businesses for Collaboration? Do I need to create an Individual Member account?
Yes. If you are a Business Member and would like to be included in the User Database to be discovered by other Sewing –Related Business for collaboration you will also need to create an Individual Member profile.
